Strawberry Shortcake Recipe


This is a family favorite in the summer with fresh strawberries! Bake your shortcakes with this recipe below, I usually bake mine in the morning if I am having shortcake for dessert that evening. After the biscuits have cooled off cut them in half. Place the bottom half in the bowl add some crushed strawberries on it then put the top part on and cover with more crushed strawberries. Top with whipped cream. When I crush the berries I add a little sugar to the berries.


  • 2 C Flour
  • 2 tsp Cream of Tartar
  • 1 tsp Baking Soda
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1 Tbsp Sugar
  • 1/3 C Shortening
  • 1 C Milk


Step 1

Preheat Oven to 375 or 400 F. (Depending on your oven. If your oven runs hot then just bake at 375.)

Step 2

Swift dry ingredients together 3 times. Then mix in shortening like you would when making a pie crust. Stir in milk.

Step 3

Bake until lightly browned, about 15 minutes.
