Jelly Cookies
This is a great cookie to make in the fall after making some fresh crab apple jelly! It is great all year round too! The kids love them! I used to love going to my grand mother’s after she just made these jelly cookies, they were delicious and the smell of freshly baked cookies was great!
Ingredients
- 1/2 Cup Shortening
- 1 Cup Brown Sugar
- 1 Egg
- 2 Cup Flour
- 2 tsp. Cream of Tartar
- 1 tsp Baking Soda
- 4 Tblsp Water
Method
Step 1
Cream shortening and brown sugar together.
Step 2
Add eggs to sugar and shortening and beat.
Step 3
Add remaining ingredients and beat until mixed together.
Step 4
Chill in fridge for an hour.
Step 5
Roll in small balls and place on cookie sheet.
Step 6
Gently press thumb into cookie ball then spoon a little jelly into thumb prints.
Step 7
Bake @ 425 degrees until lightly golden.
