Homemade Dill Pickles
This is a very easy recipe to make Homemade Dill Pickles. The pickles are crunchy and tastes very yummy! Everyone will love these pickles!
Ingredients
- Cucumbers
- 2 Cups Water
- 2 Cups Vinegar
- 2 Tbsp Pickling Salt
- 1 Tsp Minced Garlic
- 1 Tsp Dill Weed
- Onion (optional)
Method
Step 1
Add 1 Tsp Minced Garlic and 1 Tsp dill weed to each bottle.
Step 2
Wash cucumbers then cut off each end.
Step 3
Place pickles in bottles.
Step 4
Combine water, vinegar and salt in saucepan and bring to boil.
Step 5
Fill bottles with boiling water combination.
Step 6
Place lids on bottles and process in water bath.
Step 7
Optional: Add onion on top of cucumbers to help keep them from floating up and also adds to the taste.

Ever wonder who invented dill pickles? It was the late 1800’s – early 1900’s when dill pickles was introduced to North America. Eastern European Jews immigrated to New York City and they would wash cucumbers then pile them in large wooden barrels along with dill, garlic, spices, kosher salt and clean water. Now you know where we get these yummy pickles!
